After analysing more than 15 million tax returns from 2019-20, the Australian Taxation Office has revealed Australia’s highest and lowest income suburbs.
Eight of the country’s highest-earning postcodes are in Sydney, while five of the lowest earning are in regional New South Wales.

Notably, men continue to earn more on average than women – $74,559 compared to $52,798.
Matt Grudnoff, a senior economist with the Australia Institute has told The Guardian Australia that more needs to be done to close that gap including pay increases for aged care workers, who are predominantly women, and a focus on childcare and childcare workers.
