Does how you speak affect your job prospects

If you have a ‘non-standard’ accent, you may find yourself being passed up for jobs.

The review found the same bias did not disadvantage men, whose accents did not appear to be a factor in hiring practices in the studies used in the review.

The university researchers concluded there were underlying prejudices relating to gender as well as racial and ethnic prejudices affecting hiring practices.
