Our climate revolution calls for women to be at the forefront of change and activism

An insightful and motivating thought piece in Scientific American talks about the need for more women to have the floor when speaking about climate change matters. At the COP26 climate summit, men took up 74% of the active speaking time. This number poorly represents and ‘advocates’ for the group who are most affected by climate change. Women.

U.N studies show that 80% of people displaced by climate change are women, and at the same time, we are seeing women taking charge globally seeing climate change as a priority.

This calls for representation and a seat at the table, Catherine McKenna writes “when it comes to international climate negotiations, where policy changes are solidified and goals are set for climate-mitigating and adaptive actions, these women’s voices need to be amplified.”
