Free period products will now be available at pools and other locations throughout Sydney's inner west.
It’s thanks to the Inner West Council that has installed 10 contactless vending machines dispensing free pads and tampons at sites across Ashfield, Marrickville, Leichhardt and Balmain including at two swimming pools owned by the council, at libraries and at a youth centre.
Deputy Mayor Philippa Scott told ABC Radio Sydney that period products should be widely available for free.
"These are not luxury products," she said. "They should be supplied just alongside toilet paper, soap and running water in any modern toilet facility."
