Founders Weekly: Do you need a friend audit?

Find someone who is killing it.. and take them out for coffee.

Research shows that the people you surround yourself with provide a strong indicator of how you will end up. It’s actually basic psychology. The group shapes your individuality through the shared rules and values that it deems acceptable.

New research shows that our social interactions can have a major impact on how we operate in the world, perceive ourselves and our abilities.

Our social circle influences our:

  • - Ability to de-stress and relax
  • - Healthy or unhealthy eating
  • - Fitness
  • - Job competence
  • - Life expectancy
  • - Perceptions of how difficult or easy a task is, and
  • - Perceptions of our own ability and potential to complete difficult tasks.

So, if you want to be more successful in a specific area in your life, the first thing you should do is find someone who it is killing it in that area and take them out to coffee…and, maybe say goodbye to that friend who can always come up with a reason why they, or you, can’t achieve their goals.
